Trick or Treat Painted Canvas Halloween Décor
I cannot wait to get back to Portland and finish up my Halloween projects! Here’s a quick and easy one I was able to complete right before I left!
…..
Supplies:
Two 5×7” stretched canvases
One 2×2” stretched canvas
1 ½” wood letters to spell out ‘Trick or Treat’ – they come 2 per pack and found at most craft stores
Acrylic paint in 3 different colors – I used Lavender, Citrus Green, and of course.. Jack O’ Lantern Orange!
Hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks
Paintbrush or foam brush
A fine point paint brush to paint the insides of the letters
Optional:
Wood candy pieces – I found these a while ago at JoAnn’s crafts and set aside for a project like this, but you could also use fake spiders, skeleton hands, etc.. like I did on the Boo Canvas project.
First layout your lettering so you know exactly where you’ll want to glue them down. Paint canvases with 2-3 coats of paint. I only painted the edges with one coat to save time. Let them dry about 30-45 minutes in between coats. Paint letter face, inside and outer edges with 2 layers of paint. Give them about 20 minutes to dry between each coat.
Once canvases and letters are completely dry, cover the back of the first letter with hot glue, place on the canvas and hold for 20-30 seconds.
Repeat with remaining letters. If you have extra items glue them onto the appropriate spots.
Perfect to hang up on the wall or display on your mantle!
