When I moved out of the house at eighteen I was broke, as most 18-20 somethings are when they’re first getting set up on their own. Among eating canned ravioli and a LOT of ramen noodles, I learned how to make the easiest, cheapest, tastiest red sauce. To this day this is still my go-to-sauce for pasta, chicken parmesan, marinara dipping sauce, pizza sauce, etc.. You can add diced tomatoes, mushrooms, meat, and other seasonings to perfect your own but here’s my original recipe!
Ingredients:
1 (15oz) can of tomato sauce
1 (6oz) can of tomato paste
1 Tbs Italian seasoning
½ Tbs garlic salt
½ tsp onion powder
I also like to add a pinch of red pepper flakes and cayenne pepper for some kick!
Ready for the easiest cooking instructions you’ll ever see?!
Combine all ingredients into a small sauce pan, heat on medium heat, stirring occasionally for 5 minutes or until desired temperature.
You can always add sautéed tomatoes and mushrooms or cooked Italian sausage for a heartier sauce!
Enjoy!
